Vegvisningsskilt 792.30 Helautomatisk bomstasjon som passeres uten å stanse

An increasing number of toll plazas in Norway are automatic, where you drive through without stopping. A photo is taken of the number plate of all vehicles without an AutoPASS.

If you don't have an AutoPASS or a Visitors´ Payment contract, the invoice is sent to the vehicle owner by standard mail. This invoice is sent from Euro Parking Collection (EPC) plc in London, United Kingdom. It can take up to six months before this invoice is sent. If you do not pay the invoice before the deadline, which is stated in the invoice, you will receive a reminder. A fee of NOK 300 is added.

You can also pay the toll fee at facilities, such as petrol stations close to the toll station, within three working days after passing the toll point. Look for the sign: “Kr-service”.

Kr-service: viser vei til nærmeste servicestasjon hvor man kan betale for passeringer og skaffe AutoPASS-brikke og -avtale

If you don´t have AutoPASS, and plan to stay in Norway for less than two months, you are recomended to pay toll online, with Visitors' Payment. This way you can pass all toll plazas in Norway, marked by AutoPASS, without stopping to pay.

Automatic toll stations
Most toll stations in Norway are automatic and ready to drive through without stop. All vehicles without AutoPASS will have their license plate photographed. If you don't have AutoPASS, or a Visitors' Payment contract, an invoice will be sent by mail to the owner of the car, at no extra charge. This also applies for foreign vehicles.

You can also pay toll at facilities, such as petrol stations close to the toll station, within three working days after passing the toll point. Look for the sign: “Kr-service”.

Other toll stations
Some toll stations have AutoPASS-lanes and lanes for manual payment. Please be aware that you risk a fine if you drive through in the AutoPASS-lanes without an AutoPASS or Visitors' Payment contract. You can register credit card at Visitors' Payment up to 3 days after passing a toll point.

Pay toll Online with ”Visitors´ Payment”

If you are planning to stay in Norway for less than two months, your are recommended to pay toll using Visitors' Payment, an Online service.

Pay toll with AutoPASS

AutoPASS is another way to pay toll in Norway. AutoPASS is an electronic payment system, where you use an AutoPASS tag as the means of payment. Foreign vehicles can also utilise AutoPASS, and this arrangement is useful if you plan to stay in Norway for more than two months. To get an AutoPASS tag you should:

  • Sign an agreement with one of the Toll Road Operators in Norway, and get a discount at many toll plazas.
  • You pay a deposit of NOK 200 for the AutoPASS tag.

Each time you pass through a toll station the fee is deducted from your account. When you leave Norway you can return the AutoPASS tag by standard mail to the Toll Road Operator, at the same time as you terminate your agreement. You will then receive your deposit back and any remainder on your account.
